Introduction to the temporary exhibition: Anna and Michael Ancher – Together and seperately

Continuing the exhibition series on artists’ homes, the current exhibition sheds light on one of the most renowned and beloved Danish artist couples: Anna and Michael Ancher. This is the first time in recent years that an exhibition sets out to address both the artists and their partnership that blossomed in their Skagen home. The exhibition examines the artistic dialogue and sheds light on the similarities and differences between the two artists.

The French Collection

Take a guided tour of The French collection. The collection is exhibited in the brand new building designed by the award-winning Norwegian architectural firm, Snøhetta. You will see exquisite artwork from some of the greatest French artists of the 19th century such as Edgar Degas, Claude Monet and Paul Gauguin.

Vilhelm Hammershøi and his time

Join us on a tour of the Danish collection, where you will see works of art by Vilhelm Hammershøi and his Danish contemporaries. Ordrupgaard’s founders Wilhelm and Henny Hansen collected works of art by many Danish artists such as Hammershøi, L.A., the Fynbo painters and the ‘Danish impressionist’ Theodor Philipsen. On the tour, we take a closer look at the mentioned artists and talk about the major breakthroughs that took place around1900.
