Ordrupgaard is a museum specialising in French Impressionism, featuring artists such as Monet, Renoir and Gauguin. The museum also has a significant collection of Danish art concentrating on Hammershøi and his contemporaries, and arranges a succession of special exhibitions. In the park, you can enjoy works by international contemporary artists – and visit Danish architect Finn Juhl’s world-famous house. New wings by Zaha Hadid and Snøhetta emphasise the museum’s focus on excellent architecture.

LOAN OF ARTWORKS
Ordrupgaard may lend artworks for limited periods to exhibitions at other museums and exhibition venues. We do not lend works to private individuals. Loan requests must be submitted no later than 12 months prior to the opening of the exhibition and must include the following information:
- Artist, title, date, and inventory number
- Exhibition dates
- Exhibition concept and scholarly justification
- Facility report, incl. floor plan of the exhibition space indicating security zones and security certifications
Processing of Loan Requests
Upon receipt of a loan request, Ordrupgaard will issue a confirmation of receipt. The request will then be reviewed at one of the museum’s four annual loan committee meetings. In addition, the requested works must be examined by a conservator to assess their suitability for loan. Based on this assessment and the submitted request, a decision will be communicated. If the request is approved, a formal loan agreement will be prepared. Expected processing time: 6 months.
Loan Costs
Borrowing museums and institutions are required to cover the costs associated with the loan, subject to prior agreement. These costs may include, but are not limited to: scholarly assessment of the loan purpose, conservator’s examination, preparation of condition reports prior to loan and upon return, as well as administrative expenses. Additional costs may arise in connection with the preparation of the works (backing, climate frame, framing, glazing, passe-partout, stabilization, and other conservation-related expenses).
In addition to the loan fee and any preparation costs, the borrower is responsible for all expenses related to insurance, transport, and courier services (incl. travel, accommodation, and per diem).
All costs must be agreed upon prior to the signing of the loan agreement. Should the borrower withdraw the loan request after the conservator’s examination and the preparation of a condition report, but before the agreement is signed, the borrower will be charged separately for the conservator’s services.
If a loan is cancelled before the exhibition opens, the borrower must cover the costs incurred by Ordrupgaard in processing the request. In the event that the entire loan is cancelled, the borrower will be charged DKK 1,850 plus DKK 850 per cancelled work. If only one or a few works are cancelled, the borrower will be charged DKK 850 per cancelled work.
Loan Requests Should Be Sent To:
