Klara Kristalova

Klara Kristalova herself refers to her works as three-dimensional drawings rather than sculptures. She is particularly fascinated by the many mythologies, layers of symbolism and enigmatic elements found in Gauguin’s works: ‘The work refers to various Gauguin paintings, but especially one in which a lot of animals and women of different ages are situated in a landscape. I thought that particular painting was such a beautiful allegory of life; it includes youth, growing up, getting older, sleeping or dying …’.
