Introduction to Flora Yukhnovich – Into the Woods
This tour takes you through the colorful universe of the acclaimed British artist Flora Yukhnovich (b. 1990). Using a sensuous visual language between figuration and abstraction, Yukhnovich incorporates historical styles into her work. The works in the exhibition are based on one of Rococo’s favoured genres, the fête galante, in which aristocrats meet and flirt in forest clearings. She transcends conventional genre boundaries by traversing high culture and popular culture in an original way.
Introduction to Ai Weiwei – Water Lilies #1
Experience Ai Weiwei, one of the most significant voices of contemporary art, with the installation Water Lilies #1 (2022). The spectacular work consists of over 650,000 Lego bricks, and with an impressive length of 15 meters it is to this date Ai Weiwei’s largest Lego work. The enormous installation is a paraphrase of Claude Monet’s iconic painting Water Lilies (1914-26), which is now exhibited at MoMA in New York. The tour will begin in Ordrupgaard’s collection of french art, where one of the museum’s tour guides will give an introduction to the Impressionist style.
