This adventure will acquaint the little reader with the contrast between what is natural and artificial, what occurs in nature, and what is man-made, and how the beauty of the former may be the latter superior. It is told in the form of two birds, a mechanical bird and a true nightingale. The artificial bird’s abilities consist of mimicking the sound of an organ barrel and playing a melodic melody, but it is the vivid sound of the nightingale that saves the emperor and averts death in a difficult hour, while the artificial bird’s mechanical clockwork remains silent.
