Van Gogh, Gauguin, Bernard. Friction of Ideas
A richly illustrated catalogue published in conjunction with the exhibition: Van Gogh, Gauguin, Bernard. Friction of Ideas. The exhibition was held at Ordrupgaard from
February 7 – June 22, 2014.
The catalogue is about Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890), Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) and Émile Bernard (1868-1941) and reflects the exhibition’s focus on their internal relations, correspondence and “electric” discussions. An important focal point is the weeklong intense artistic collaboration between van Gogh and Gauguin in 1888 that ended abruptly, when van Gogh cut off a piece of his ear in a moment of insanity.
