Claude Monet

A richly illustrated catalogue published in conjunction with the exhibition: Monet. Beyond Impressionism. The exhibition was held at Ordrupgaard from August 24 – December 4, 2016.

The catalogue is about the French artist Claude Monet (1840-1926) and reflects the exhibition’s focus on Monet’s subject series as a recurrent ...theme in his artistic career. Monet’s serial approach to painting had a paramount influence on the generation of artists who followed Monet. Combined with his ever-increasing abstract tendencies it becomes clear that Monet developed painting beyond Impressionism and towards the Modernism of the 20 century.
