Ordrupgaard 100 years

100 years ago the succesful insurance man Wilhelm Hansen and his wife Henny opened the doors to their home ’Ordrupgaard’ with the intention of sharing their unique art collection with the public. In 2018 Ordrupgaard celebrates its 100th anniversary.

In order to celebrate the anniversary, Ordrupgaard will publish new exciting books, and invite you for coffee and cake in the Art Park on the day of the anniversary September 14th 2018.

As Ordrupgaard will be closed in 2018 due to the construction of a new extension by Snøhetta, the museum has chosen to lend its magnificent collection to other art museums in Denmark and abroad. In this way many more people can experience the collection, and celebrate the anniversary of Ordrupgaard.

Ordrupgaard’s Danish collection will visit Holstebro Art Museum, Ribe Art Museum, Sorø Art Museum and The Skovgaard Museum in Viborg. The exhibition is titled Golden Age and Green Forests. 100 Years of Ordrupgaard.

Ordrupgaard’s French collection, which travelled to Musée Jacquemart-André in Paris in 2017, will travel all the way to Canada and Switzerland. Ordrupgaard’s significant collection of Vilhelm Hammershøi painting will travel to museums in Canada to Germany.

The Art Park is open to the public. Ordrupgaard has got two new works of art in the Art Park. One is a tea house ” Tea Tree House” and the other is a bamboo artwork “Geometry of Innoncence”. It is definitely worth a visit. Fore more information about opening hours please click here.
