Art Park Ordrupgaard is a three-year project in which internationally acclaimed artists create site-specific works taking their point of departure in the museum’s surrounding park. Each summer the park will present the artistic contribution of one or more artists. The ambition to establish the park as a site for contemporary art has been made possible thanks to generous donations from the foundations Det Obelske Familiefond and 15. Juni Fonden. The artworks may include reflections on the essential elements of nature such as light, reflections or water, which relate to one of the core areas of Ordrupgaard: French Impressionism; a style that emerges in French painting in the period from 1870 to 1900 and is characterised by the wish to depict the immediate world surrounding us, the refractions of light and sense impressions. Art Park Ordrupgaard opened 15 June 2013.
